Supported Home-Ed
Trial Day - Learning with the Seasons
Service Description
These sessions are operated within standard term timetable. Please reach out via email (workshops@outdoorium.uk) to personalise this package. For our trial period our suggested attendance is a minimum of 2 days for a duration of 2 weeks. After your deposit (which equates to a single session fee) we will send out a application form, following that you'll receive confirmation of availability for your selected dates and your individualised invoice which covers joining these sessions for a 2 week trial period. Post the trial each participant must sign up for a minimum of half a term, this helps the group maintain friendships and develop together. Additionally it helps us create our "Way of the Day" and ensure we've gathered enough resources for our lesson plans and communal meals. The days are run by two teachers both offering 2 hours of focused support. Molly is there for every session of the week offering forest school activities and incorporates her knowledge in herbalism and foraging within her lesson plans. We then have two other teachers who alternate days. Angela who specialises in literacy and story telling. She has 36 years of experience teaching primary school aged children. Antonia is an early years practitioner and prioritises music and imaginary play in her lesson planning, and is in the process of training to be a Waldorf practitioner. We begun this group at the beginning of this academic year, it was set up to support families who don't want to embark on the journey of standardised education but still require the flexibility to work. Our intentions is to generate a community of practitioners who offer a variety of skill sets to guide young minds. With these lessons taking place within the same space it creates familiarity for the children and a foundation for their development. Additionally it assists home-ed families in minimising traveling between different spaces for home-ed drop-off sessions. Seasonal development is at the core of all our lesson plans, although the activity may shift within the day, it will always be aligned with the season. Currently we have a collective of 6 children and our chosen capacity is 8 children per session. From the January 2025 term we will be registered with Ofsted and therefore can offer governmental support with fees. i.e 15/30 hrs (age related) & up to 85% claim back of fees for families who receive Universal Credit. Looking forward to growing with you, From the Outdoorium Team.
